DBA LA MECCA - ESTABLISHED IN MARCH 2009

La MECCA is an ongoing community-based initiative that will be under-construction until approximately 2020. Over the course of the next 11 years, different pieces of literature, opinions, comments, and testimonies will be collected and posted here to remind us, the community of Rochester, NY, that we have needs as a people that must be met, but that the members of Rochester can meet those needs through a simple barter system of goods and services. What can you offer? What do you need? Every person has extreme value, no matter where you come from, what your past looks like. Rochester and the rest of the world needs to hear your experiences. Someone's life is waiting to be changed. Don't be afraid to make someone's day, and don't expect any one person to make yours. When you give, someone, maybe you do not know who, will give back. It doesn't need to be the same person. Just patiently wait.

La MECCA is collecting data and personnel to provide powerful services, whether they be religious, political, musical or other types of informational meetings (such as sex education forums). La MECCA exists to pick up where some people have left off, whether the person or entity is family, friends, work, government, etc. Community members without degrees have knowledge to impart to others. Those who want a degree will also find assistance at La MECCA in writing essays and filling out applications. Those who need work or aid filling out governmental forms will find a social network here to help in the process of meeting those needs.  

Please look in your basement, attic, garage, food pantry, and other rooms of the house. We all have things we don't use. Someone needs them though! Please donate anything you like, such as old beds and furniture for the different rooms of La MECCA center and hostel. Clothing are given to people who need them without price tags or cost. We would like to find a variety of ways to work together and form interdependency on each other. We want your family to enjoy the day here for various events or to arrange whatever interest you would like to see developed. What do you want in Rochester out of your community center?
